Along with the coffee quality, and its grind size, the temperature is another important factor while brewing drip coffee. As a rule of thumb, the standard temperature for brewing drip coffee is 195 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit. Stick to this temperature for both drip coffee makers, as well as drip coffee cones.
Use a dense paper filter*. They will retain most of the soluble in the coffee. As a result, the coffee oil will not flatten the overall taste of your brew. As far as the brew time is concerned, the brew time is 5 minutes. However, if your water temperature is below 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit, you will have to prolong the brew time.

- Boil Water – Take 600 grams of water into a kettle*, and put it on the stove to boil.
- Grind Coffee – Take 30 grams of coffee, and grind it to a coarse level that resembles beach sands. As far as the coffee to water ratio is concerned, stick to 23 grams of coffee ground per 350 grams of water.
- Assemble the Dripper – Take your paper filter, and place it on top of the dripper*. Wet the filter with warm water beforehand.
- Level the Surface of the Coffee Ground – Take your coffee ground and pour it on top of the filter. To ensure a good brew, you must ensure the coffee grounds have a flat surface. Use your fingers, and use alternating swipes to level the surface.
- Pour Water – We are going to pour the water in fixed amounts. Divide the water into four equal parts. Remember, we are going to use 23 grams of coffee with 350 grams of water. For the first pour, we are going to start with the rim of the filter. Gently pour water at the rim and follow a circular motion, and slowly progress towards the center. When you are done, let the coffee brew. After the first pour, the coffee grind will release CO2, resulting in a nice blossoming effect.
- Add another Four Rounds of Water – Repeat this three more times. Pour the water on the ripples of the filter. It will then slowly swirl down onto the rim of the coffee grounds. Wait for half a minute to a full minute after each round of water. After you are done with the last round, let the water completely seep through the filters.
Coffee is served best right after it is done brewing. If you leave the brewer on the kitchen stove after the brew is complete, the aroma and the taste will evaporate. If you want a fresh cup of coffee, drink it immediately after the brew completion.
