If you have prepared coffee scrubs for the skin or the face, you will have no trouble making coffee lip scrubs. To make a coffee lip scrub, you do not need to go grocery shopping. Chances are, most of the ingredients that we will be using in this recipe are already present in your home.

Taking Care Of Your Lips

Cracking of the lips is a common phenomenon. It happens to everyone during the winter. And if the cracks are too deep, you will find it difficult to smile or even eat food. Lips do not crack in the winter only. During the summer, if the humidity is too high, lips have an equal chance of cracking. This is why we should always take care of our lips.

The reason why lips can quickly dry out is that they do not contain any oil glands like the other parts of the human body. To keep your lips hydrated, you should drink a lot of water every day.

According to The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, an adult male should drink 3.7 liters of water, whereas an adult female should drink 2.7 liters of water. If you have been drinking less than this limit, you should increase your fluid intake. Also, do not lick your lips with your tongue. This act absorbs the moisture from the lips, thus leaving them dry.

If the sun is out, and you have to go out, take a sun-protective lip scrub with you. If you do not have one yet, you can buy one today from any online store. When you are out in the sun, apply the sun-protective lip balm every two hours on your lips. No matter what brand you use, always make sure it has an SPF of 15 or higher.

Your lips don’t need to dry out only during the daytime when exposed to the sun. Your lips can dry out during the night time too. If you are going out, take the lip balm with you. Also, you can use lip balm when you are at home too. After you brush your teeth in the morning, or the afternoon, apply the lip balm on your lips.

The other way you can protect your lips is by using exfoliators. Every week, you should exfoliate your lips using a toothbrush or a wet towel. Gently press it on your lips, and rub it. If you don’t feel comfortable using a toothbrush, you can also use a lip scrub.

Benefits Of Using A Coffee Scrub

As all the ingredients in a homemade coffee lip scrub are natural, there is no way you can overuse it. However, it is advised that you use the scrub on your lips at least 2-3 times a week.

If you have dry lips, you can increase the number. But do not overdo it. You should apply the lip scrub for only 30-45 seconds. Do not let it sit on your lips for hours. That is not how you use a coffee lip scrub.

And then there is the caffeine content in coffee. It helps to tighten the skin on your lips, as well as reduce cellulite.

The effects of the coffee lip scrub are immediate. You will see the results after minutes of applying the scrub to your skin. Which makes this scrub perfect for a quick fix? If you have a date night or a big family get-together coming up, use the scrub minutes before leaving home. The effects of the scrub will last the entire night.

Coffee Lip Scrub Recipe

For this recipe, we will use four ingredients- coffee ground, honey, coconut oil, and cinnamon powder. The coffee grounds will help exfoliate the skin of your lip. Coconut oil and honey will moisturize the skin. And finally, the cinnamon powder will make your lip glow and look fluffy.

Take 1 tbsp of coffee ground, coconut oil, and honey. And add only ¼ tbsp of cinnamon powder to the paste. Take all the ingredients in a bowl, and stir them together. Make sure there are lumps in the paste. If you have lumps in the paste, the air is trapped inside the paste, which is not good. Use a spoon to stir the mixture until you are left with a consistent paste of lip scrubs.

Once the paste is formed, you can use it right away on your lip. If you follow the measurements we have listed above, you will have around 1.5-2 tbsp of the paste once you mix the ingredients. As far as storage is concerned, you should always use an air-tight jar to store the paste.

When you want to use the paste, take the lid off the jar, take the scrub in your finger, and apply it to your lips. With your finger, rub the skin of your lips. Do this for 30-45 seconds before washing it off.

Conclusion

Before we conclude, here is a quick tip for you. To prepare the coffee lip scrub, you can use both dry coffee grounds and old coffee grounds. Both will do the work. But, if you intend to use the coffee lip scrub for a later date, you should avoid using old coffee grounds.
