In this review, I’ll be looking at the KitchenAid (KCM1208DG) spiral showerhead coffee maker.
The design of this coffee maker is similar visually to KitchenAid’s famous kitchen mixers. It features a spiral shower head that makes sure all of the coffee grounds are soaked thoroughly. It also had 2 brew buttons, one on the front and one on the side of the machine. So you can position the coffee maker in either direction on your countertop. While it makes a decent cup of coffee it isn’t without its flaws.
Features of the KitchenAid spiral shower head 12-cup drip coffee maker
- 12 Cup Capacity
- 29-Hole spiral showerhead
- Removable water tank
- Dosage ladder on gold tone filter
- 2-hour warming plate
Don’t break the carafe
As many reviews of this coffee maker state, it’s impossible to get a replacement carafe, not from Amazon and not from KitchenAid’s official website (their website always says “Temporarily out of stock” and it has been for a while now. So be careful if you chose to try out this coffee maker!
Plastic taste?
Another point of disappointment with this coffee maker is the plastic taste and smell. Despite cleaning many users have stated that the machine still has the taste and smell of plastic in the brewed coffee.
Pros
- A separate water reservoir makes filling easy.
- Machine is programmable
- Multi-hole spray head soaks grounds thoroughly
Cons
- Large size takes up a lot of counter space
- Plastic taste and smell
thoughts on the KitchenAid 12-cup drip coffee maker
While this coffee maker can make a decent cup of coffee. Its flaws outweigh its appeal. There are other coffee makers out there that may not have all of the features of this coffeemaker, but on the same hand, they do not have the same flaws, namely the plastic taste. While KitchenAid makes great mixers ( I even have one in my kitchen) they should go back to the drawing board with this coffee maker.
What coffee makers do you recommend?
Glad you asked! I currently have 2 coffee makers I recommend the first is the Keurig K-Duo as it can make both K-Cups and whole pots of coffee using your ground coffee. Second is the Ninja Specialty coffee maker, for the variety of coffees you can make with this one machine.
