The Coffee on Demand is Cuisinart’s carafe-free 12-cup machine: instead of a pot, it holds brewed coffee in an insulated double-wall reservoir and dispenses it one cup at a time through a lever. Consumer Reports has tested it, which puts it ahead of most machines in this batch on evidence — but Cuisinart has since discontinued the model.
No carafe, on purpose
The reservoir holds twelve 5oz cups and a lit dispenser button confirms when you press the lever to pour. This design avoids the classic problem of coffee scorching on a hotplate carafe, since nothing sits exposed to direct heat after brewing. The tradeoff is that every cup has to be poured at the machine itself — there is no carrying a pot to the table for a group.
What Consumer Reports measured
In CR’s testing, the DCC-3000 met the recommended brewing guideline of 195°F or higher and held that temperature for five to six minutes — a real, measured result rather than a marketing claim. CR also rated it fairly convenient to use, citing straightforward controls, an easy-to-fill reservoir, a legible coffee-remaining gauge and simple cleaning. CR’s fuller scoring on predicted reliability and owner satisfaction sits behind their paywall, so treat those specific numbers as unconfirmed here.
Discontinued, but still sold
Cuisinart’s own site now lists this model under its discontinued products, which means new stock is coming from remaining retailer inventory rather than active production. That doesn’t affect how the machine performs, but it does mean replacement parts and filters may become harder to find over time, and Cuisinart’s 3-year limited warranty is worth confirming still applies to whatever unit you’re actually buying.
Before you buy
- Confirm the seller is shipping new stock, not a used or returned unit, given the discontinued status.
- Check that replacement charcoal water filters are still available before you commit to the reservoir system long-term.
- Measure your counter space against the listed 11.25in x 8.75in x 14.7in footprint.
- Confirm current warranty coverage directly with Cuisinart, since discontinued-model support can shift.
