Front-fill is the entire pitch
According to Hamilton Beach’s own product page, the 46310 pairs a front-accessible water reservoir with a swing-out brew basket, so both filling and filter-loading happen from the front of the machine rather than the top. At 13.9in high, 7.95in wide and 12.91in deep, it’s also one of the narrower 12-cup machines in this category, which matters as much as the front access itself if the actual constraint is a shallow cabinet rather than a low one. Hamilton Beach’s listing specifically calls out that it fits a compact footprint under cabinets, and the product won an Editors’ Pick award from the company’s own marketing, for whatever that’s worth as anything other than a sales claim.
The brewing side is otherwise ordinary
It brews a full 12 cups with bold, regular, or 1–4 cup strength settings, programmable up to 24 hours ahead through Easy-Touch controls, with an automatic pause-and-serve feature for pulling a cup mid-brew and a 2-hour automatic shutoff. A cleaning-cycle reminder prompts descaling. None of that distinguishes it from other mid-tier Hamilton Beach machines; the front-fill design is the only reason to pick this model over a cheaper top-fill one with the same brew settings.
It’s already been discontinued
Hamilton Beach’s own site now lists the 46310 as no longer available. That’s the published downside on this listing, and it’s worth being direct about what it means in practice: there’s no manufacturer channel left to buy a fresh unit, no guarantee retailer stock is current production rather than older inventory, and less certainty that replacement parts — Hamilton Beach lists a specific replacement carafe and compatible water filters for this model — will stay available long-term.
Filtration options, if you want them
Hamilton Beach sells a compatible water filter for this machine as well as a permanent nylon filter option, so buyers who want to skip paper filters entirely have that path, similar to what Braun offers on its BrewSense line. Neither is included by default; both are separate purchases.
Before you buy
- Measure your actual cabinet clearance in both height and depth — the front-fill design only helps if a shallow or low cabinet is genuinely the constraint.
- Ask the retailer whether their stock is new-in-box current production, since Hamilton Beach itself no longer lists this model.
- Check replacement carafe and filter availability before buying if you want this machine to last several years.
- Confirm the warranty terms in writing, since manufacturer support for a discontinued model may be limited.
